Thirty sailors and Marines were injured. The five sailors were medically transported to Savannah Memorial University Medical Center for further treatment. Four of the five sailors were discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment. One sailor is still receiving medical treatment and undergoing tests for further treatment.

Sailors and Marines with minor injuries were treated at Wasp and New York.

Sailors and Marines assigned to Wasp Amphibious Ready Group and the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) were training when the incident occurred.
