BRIDGE TOWN, Barbados – The U.S. Marine Corps has designated Company A, 1st Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, and the Reconnaissance Detachment of the 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, both of the 4th Marine Division, as part of the Civil Affairs Division of Headquarters Marine Corps Forces Group, 4th Civil Affairs Group. This multilateral exercise demonstrates Caribbean cooperation and common commitment to regional stability, peace and prosperity, and an agile force ready to respond to today’s dynamic security challenges.

Barbados is hosting TRADEWINDS 2024. This is a multi-domain exercise with over 1,000 participants training in ground, air, sea and cyber operations. Exercises in these areas will strengthen the capacity of participating Caribbean countries to improve their security and response, as well as strengthen cooperation between participating countries through interdiction, security and interagency cooperation skill building. .

The South American Marine Corps is part of the U.S. Southern Command Marine Corps and is responsible for countering threats and building partnerships to increase interoperability in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. We work with Marines from allied and partner nations to build capabilities and capabilities through a variety of military operations and other cooperative events that enhance security, stability, and democratic values. Additionally, strong partnerships, knowledge sharing, and joint and multinational interoperability enable burden sharing and crisis response, while strengthening our common defense and ability to defeat threats in the Western Hemisphere.
